Global Compact

Dear Shareholders,

I am pleased to share with you our report outlining our compliance with the UN Global Compact, which looked at the development of shared human values over a ten-year period and, accordingly, develops social responsibility awareness in the world of business. Abdi İbrahim has proven itself through its 100 years of experience and its demonstrated success, and has adopted the United Nations Global Compact as an inseparable part of its corporate culture. Our company has implemented the principles of the Compact at all levels of its organizational structure by means of relevant committees, and is focusing on contributing to social development through the voluntary projects it carries out with civil social organizations and local government.

I would like to share with you the fact that we were sector leader in terms of turnover, without swerving from investment targets. Having the highest turnover in the sector for eight years, Abdi İbrahim is also the number one company in operational figures. In this context, total sales of the company increased from 1,159.6 million TL to 1,251.5 million TL. The company also expanded exports from $25 million in 2010 to $31 million. Abdi İbrahim's 6.4% share of the domestic market in 2009 rose to 7.6% in 2010.

Abdi İbrahim also retained its leadership position in patent applications in 2010; it has translated its many years of R&D into financial indicators that are above the sector average.

I would also like to publicly express how proud I am not only of our company's operational and financial performance but also of its pioneering work in product development, scientific research, quality human resources and public health projects.

Having significantly raised productivity due to the saving measures put in place in 2010, Abdi İbrahim placed greater emphasis on sustainability of natural resources and protection of the environment in its corporate citizenship identity.

As a result of improvement activities and reorganization carried out in 2010, the company conserved 2,297 m3 of water, which is enough to meet the needs of 151 homes for one month or 12 homes for one year. By conserving enough electricity to meet the energy needs of 3,000 homes for one year, we proved once more our commitment to sustainability in the area of the environment.

Abdi İbrahim, which manages its activities carried out within the framework of the UN Global Compact from a corporate point of view and produces measurable results, has launched practices that will serve as reference models to other businesses in the sector. Our company has thus far realized a great many firsts in the sector and has proven to all its social shareholders that it is a global actor in the business world, on account of both its productive financial operations and its successful social responsibility projects.

Abdi İbrahim has laid the foundations for the principles of equality, fairness, transparency and accountability in all of its business practices and in all of its shareholder relations. It attaches great importance to contributing to the preservation, development and spread of the common values of humanity and sees the opportunities it offers its employees and the social benefit it creates as part of its obligations.

Our company, which at a time when the dynamics of globalization dominate all societies and every area of life, contributes to the transformation of this phenomenon around human values, will continue to do so in the future.
