Environmental Policy
In addition to the manufacture of solid, liquid and semi-solid pharmaceuticals, research development and quality control are conducted at the Abdi İbrahim Production Facilities.
Fundamental to Abdi İbrahim's environmental policy is constant improvement in all its activities, efficient use of natural resources, prevention of pollution in full compliance with laws, and the reduction and separation of wastes produced during its operations, preferably at the source, recycling them, and removing them by appropriate methods.
Within the framework of this policy, it publically declares that it is committed to
- Conducting training to make employees, suppliers and subcontractors aware of the importance of preserving the environment
- Keeping possible environmental impacts under control and using appropriate technology to keep them to a minimum
- Keeping abreast of laws, international regulations and customer needs and to continually improve performance while complying with them in order to prevent environmental pollution.
Environmental impacts are kept under control at every stage, from purchasing to product marketing. The protection of the environment and sustainability are key considerations in all operations. Environmentally friendly materials and technologies are used. Wastes are separated at the source. All production processes are monitored for the magnitude of their environmental impact and attention is paid to efficient use of natural resources.
The packaging used in products marketed is made of recyclable material. A green dot is used on packaging to indicate this.
Training is held to raise environmental consciousness in employees and in companies with which we collaborate and to ensure its continued development.
In addition to having all licenses, Abdi İbrahim possesses the ISO14001 Environmental Management System Certificate.
- To not be affected by electric power interruptions, Abdi İbrahim Production Facilities are equipped with full capacity generators.
- None of the production machines running on "dynamic UPS" experience energy interruptions.
- "Active harmonic inhibitors" ensure that energy remains clean.
- Through "Thyristor compensation," which rapidly engages, the average annual cosfi coefficient is 0.996.
- The well applied "equipotential grounding resistance" is 0.15 ohm.
- The "Active Lightning Rod" and "Faraday Cage" are used in conjunction to guard against lightning.
- Underground pipes are protected against erosion by "active cathode protection."
- High-efficiency lights are managed by the lighting SCADA system via a lighting automation supported by, for example, movement sensors and daylight level measurements.
- Energy SCADA capable of monitoring electric consumption is available.
- While procuring energy on the basis of the binary industry energy fee scale, loads can be managed in a controlled fashion.
- Close to 3,000 calibrations are made annually.
- "Most Efficient Industry in Turkey Award" was won in 2007.
Water obtained from wells is kept under control from the time it reaches the surface. On account of the careful work of personnel and automatic control systems, only the amount of ground water needed is used.
Abdi İbrahim has modern water treatment systems and all measures needed to ensure the economical use of water at every stage have been taken.
Both photoelectric and bleeder valves are used in laboratories. Sprayer systems that ensure the flow of water only when needed in irrigation tanks in production areas are used. Water system technicians conduct analyses when the systems are filled; this practice has resulted in an annual average of 2,250 m3 of water saved since 2009. If we take the average monthly consumption of water of a 4-person family, this is equivalent to the water need of 151 households per month or 12 households for an entire year.
Through changes made in infrastructure installations, water generated in the normal operation of water purification systems and reverse irrigation is used for garden watering. Rain water is stored directly in garden watering tanks
The transition was made in 2003 from the use of fuel oil to that of natural gas, which reduced sulphur emissions. Steam generators are fitted with on-line flue gas monitoring systems. 99.9% efficient filters are used in ventilation systems
Waste water is discharged in receptacles after being purified at the biological waste water treatment unit.
